Many features in the application display a report, for you to view, then export to PDF or CSV (Comma-Separated Value). You would use the PDF for printing the report, and the CSV for importing into Excel or another spreadsheet application such as Google Sheets.
Those features include exported views from various pages, the Reports, and the Receipts issued by the program for your donor’s taxes.
Here’s an example of a page displaying an exported view:
All such pages will have some controls at the left, and the formatted report or receipt on the right.
The Edit Page Layout button lets you choose between Portrait and Landscape mode, and between Letter and A4 paper size.
If you click the Download button on most such pages, you get a popup menu from which you can choose PDF or CSV. Whichever you choose will be saved with a standardized name (that includes the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD) in your Downloads folder. You can open it with the controls in the web browser in which you are running the app. Usually it will pop up somewhere at the top right or bottom left, so you can click on it to open it.
CSV exports aren’t formatted Excel, they just contain the data with the headings.
Possible Problem in Chrome, Edge or Phones and Tablets
Some users have seen things like the following in the area to the right that is supposed to display the report, in the Google Chrome browser:
If you see that in Chrome, from its 3 dots menu near the top right pick Settings, then Privacy and Security, then scroll down if necessary and pick Site settings, then scroll down and pick PDF documents, and make sure that “Open PDFs in Chrome” is selected, rather than “Download PDFs”. That will fix the problem.
In Microsoft Edge, the same problem can come up and appear like this in the area to the right that should display the report:
The instructions there are actually out of date, for current releases of Edge! Instead, use the 3 dots menu near the top right, and pick Settings. In the “Search settings” area at the top left, enter PDF. Scroll down on the page that comes up to where it has highlighted “PDF documents” and click on that. Unselect “Always download PDF files”. That will fix it in the application, once you refresh the page.
Web browsers, including Chrome, on some phones and tablets may have similar problems where they won’t show the report within the page, and you can only download it. There may or may not be controls in the browser’s Settings to fix that. In such cases, just use the Download button to download the PDF, then open it to view it.
